ADT Fire and Safety provides security solution at Aberdeen hospital


CEM AC2000 access control and management system to ensure security at Aberdeen Emergency Care Centre

ADT Fire & Security has been selected as the security provider for the new Aberdeen Emergency Care Centre.

The company won the competitive tender with a CEM AC2000 integrated access control and security management system (SMS), custom designed to secure the 400 doors throughout the premises.

The new Aberdeen Emergency Care Centre has replaced 40% of the beds at the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and combines all the services required to give emergency care under one roof. In an environment where efficiency, co-ordination and reliability can mean the difference between life and death, the centre needed a security solutions provider that understood the specific needs and offered a cost-effective solution.

“Protecting patients, staff and property requires that hospitals and care centres prioritise and implement the right security solution”, said Paul Paton, senior security director at NHS Grampian, which runs the facility. “When selecting a security management system, reliability, scalability and cost-efficiency are all vital considerations.”

The AC2000 SE (Standard Edition) system, designed by CEM, was customised to enable seamless migration from the legacy system to the new AC2000 system, right down to the access cards. This meant no downtime during installation and no additional expenditure on new staff cards.

In addition, the system integrated fully into the care centre’s other CCTV, intruder detection and intelligent lift control systems. Acting as the SMS, the AC2000 video interface can associate access control alarms with Matrivideo digital video clips, enabling visibility of live camera footage via the AC2000 AED (Alarm Event Display) application. In addition, it allows security personnel to view all alarms, events and associated camera footage centrally on the system.
